1)Japan’s Hayabusa2 probe has made a perfect touchdown on a distant asteroid named Ryugu, some 300 million kilometres from Earth.

Before this touchdown by Hayabusa2 probe, a  sub-surface material from a celestial body further away than moon have never been gathered. Thus Japan became 1st country to do so.

2)Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved 3rd phase of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana to consolidate 1,25,000 km of roads in the states.

PMGSY is a nationwide plan in India to provide good all-weather road connectivity to unconnected villages.

With a population of above 500 in the plains and above 250 in the hilly areas planned to be connected by all-weather roads.

This Centrally Sponsored Scheme was introduced in 2000 by the then-prime minister of India Late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee.


3)Dutee Chand wins 100m gold in World Universiade in Italy.

Dutee Chand, the Indian sprinter won gold medal in women’s 100m in World Universiade, 30th Summer University Games held in Naples, Italy. With this win she became 1st Indian woman to do so.

4)Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act?:- It is an Indian law which is aimed at effective prevention of unlawful activities associations in India.

Objective: to make powers available for dealing with activities directed against integrity and sovereignty of India.

UAPA was first framed in 1967, and since then it has been amended twice- first in 2008 and then in 2012.

5)France to impose green tax on plane tickets from 2020:- The French government is set to impose tax of up to €18 on plane tickets for all flights from airports in France. It is aimed to fund less-polluting transportation projects.

6)Northeast Frontier Railway’s Plan Bee wins Best Innovation Award.

A unique strategy adopted by Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) called ‘Plan Bee’ to keep wild elephants away from train tracks has won the ‘Best Innovation Award’ in Indian Railways for the 2018-19 fiscal.

What is Plan Bee?:- 

It is an amplifying system that imitates the buzz of a swarm of honey bees to keep wild elephants away from railway tracks.

7)Utkarsh 2022: finalized by RBI board:- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) board has finalised Three Year Roadmap to improve supervision and regulation, among other functions of central bank. This medium term strategy is named as Utkarsh 2022.

8)Italy’s Prosecco hills enters UNESCO World Heritage list:- Italy’s hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, which is home to world-famous sparkling wine Prosecco, were added by UNESCO (United Nations Educational , Scientific and Cultural Organization) to World Heritage list.

9)LaQshya:-Government of India has launched “LaQshya” (Labour room Quality improvement Initiative) to improve quality of care in labour room and maternity operation theatres in public health facilities. It’s a multipronged approach focused at Intrapartum and immediate postpartum period.

Aim: To reduce preventable maternal and newborn mortality, morbidity and stillbirths associated with the care around delivery in Labour room and Maternity Operation Theatre and ensure respectful maternity care.

Objectives:


  1. To reduce maternal and newborn mortality & morbidity due to hemorrhage, retained placenta, preterm, preeclampsia and eclampsia, obstructed labour, puerperal sepsis, newborn asphyxia, and newborn sepsis, etc.
  2. To improve Quality of care during the delivery and immediate post-partum care, stabilization of complications and ensure timely referrals, and enable an effective two-way follow-up system.
  3. To enhance satisfaction of beneficiaries visiting the health facilities and provide Respectful Maternity Care (RMC) to all pregnant women attending the public health facilities.
