1)Now, Australia wants a LEMOA :-

What is LEMOA :- LEMOA stands for Logistics Exchange Memorandum of Agreement (LEMOA).

What areas does the agreement cover?:-
The agreement will primarily cover four areas — port calls(i.e Intermediate Services like Re-Fuelling), joint exercises, training and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief.

Any other requirement has to be agreed upon by both sides on a case-by-case basis.

LEMOA does not mean that US can station its forces or create Military bases in India or vice versa. Neither it mandates India or USA to use others bases for fighting wars etc.

So What has happened Now:- Australia has put forward a proposal to have a logistics support agreement with India on the lines of the one concluded with the U.S.

One More Fact :- Malabar Exercises : Malabar is a trilateral naval exercise involving the United States, Japan and India as permanent partners.

2)Some Key Points about BCIM Project :-

The Bangladesh–China–India–Myanmar Forum for Regional Cooperation (BCIM) is a sub-regional organisation of Asian nations aimed at greater integration of trade and investment between the four countries.

The corridor will run from Kunming to Kolkata, linking Mandalay in Myanmar as well as Dhaka and Chittagong in Bangladesh.

But there are Some Challenges also , For Ex. Security Challenges which might Stall the Project.

The Study Group to look forward for the Possibility of BCIM Corridor will meet in Kolkata.

3)Centre has begun discussions to set up a national level nodal body for all transport-related matters across modes including aviation, railways, surface transport and waterways.

The proposed ‘Logistics and Integrated Transport Board’ will initially work on improving inter-ministerial co-ordination to facilitate an efficient multi-modal transport system in India.

What is the Ultimate Aim :- The aim, however, is to gradually set up a single unified transport ministry by merging the ministries of Aviation, Railways, Surface Transport and Shipping to ensure greater ease of doing business and boost India’s internal and external trade.

5)Important Points From the Article on Bad Banks From Page 14 of The Hindu:=

DEFINITION of 'Bad Bank':=
A bank set up to buy the bad loans of a bank with significant non-performing assets at market price.

By transferring the bad assets of an institution to the bad bank, the banks clear their balance sheet of toxic assets/Non-Performing Assets.

So Bad Banks Buy the Bad Loans (which have not been repaid) from Banks.

The economic survey of 2016-17 pointed out the twin balance sheet problem — stressed companies on one hand and NPA-laden banks on the other — and advocated a centralised Public Sector Asset Rehabilitation Agency (PARA) be established to deal with the bad loans problem.

Private ARC's or Asset Reconstruction Comapanies have also been used for overcoming the Problem of NPA.

But one Major Challenge before these ARC's is of Capital.
