1)National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) :- During his recent visit to Kanpur. The scheme has an outlay of Rs 10000 crore and it involves incentivizing employers in sharing 25% of total cost of stipend paid to the apprentices. It is for the first time Govt. of India has come forward to incentivize the employers to participate pro-actively in apprenticeship training.
2)Year End Review of DAE:-
i)  India-Japan Agreement for Cooperation in Nuclear Energy.

ii)India becomes Associate Member of CERN, Geneva

iii)Cabinet grants ‘in-principle’ approval to the LIGO-India mega science proposal.

iv)India supplied indigenous teletherapy machine Bhabhatron, for cancer treatment.

v) BARC develops kit for detection of Chromium contamination of water

vi) Hall of Nuclear Energy inaugurated in Delhi.


3)Minister of State(I/C), Ministry of Minority Affairs, launched the  trilingual website www.haj.gov.in  relating to Haj Matters here  today. The website is in Hindi, Urdu and English languages.

4)Department o Sports Major Contributions :
i) Rio Paralympics – 2016: India won its highest ever medal tally of 4 medals (2 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze all in athletics). The athletes are Shri Devendra Jhajharia and Shri Mariappan, Gold medalists, Ms Deepa Malik, Silver medalist and Shri Varun Singh Bhati, Bronze medalist.

ii)12th South Asian Games were successfully conducted at Guwahati and Shillong in February 2016 India’s regional supremacy went unchallenged with a record-breaking haul of 308 medals. India’s final tally stood at 188 gold, 99 silver and 30 bronze medals.

iii)BRICS U-17 Football tournament: First ever U-17 Football tournament among teams of five BRICS countries was organized and successfully held at Goa in October 2016.

iv)Indian U-18 Men Hockey Team won gold in 4th at Dhaka Asia cup beating Bangladesh in the final at Dhaka.


National Sports Day was celebrated on 29th August



5)India got its first ever INDIAN INSTITUTE OF SKILLS at KANPUR.
