The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), or Shanghai Pact, is a Eurasian political, economic, and military organisation
·         founded in 2001 in Shanghai by the leaders of Shanghai Five (formed in 1996) (China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan) +Uzbekistan= total 6 members

India and Pakistan signed the memorandum of obligations on 24 June 2016 at Tashkent, thereby starting the formal process of joining the SCO as full members.Talk started at Ufa summit, 2015

1.       Heads of Govt: 2016:Bishkek, Kyrgyztan
2.       Heads of states : 2016: Tashkent, Uzbekistan; 2017: Astana, Kazakhstan

·         Activities:
o   Cooperation on Security
o   Military
o   Economic  Cooperation
o   Cultural Cooperation

·         Main objectives of the SCO are to
(i) strengthen relations among member states;
 (ii) promote cooperation in political affairs, economics and trade, scientific-technical, cultural, and educational spheres as well as in energy, transportation, tourism, and environmental protection;
(iii) safeguard regional peace, security, and stability; and
(iv) create a democratic, equitable international political and economic order

·         Core-principle : Non-aggression & non-interference in internal affairs
