1)AYUSH-QOL-2C developed to minimize side effects of Chemo and radiotherapy in Cancer patients
Also Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) has developed an anti-diabetic drug AYUSH-82.
2)The Government has decided to introduce Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system for fertilizer subsidy payments. Under the proposed system, 100% subsidy on various fertilizer grades shall be released to the manufacturers and importers on the basis of actual sales made by the retailer to the beneficiaries.
3)Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has made a research in production of protein food for the jawans posted in remote and isolated parts of the country keeping in view the present situation on our borders.
4)Embraer Deal was to purchase three modified aircrafts from M/s Embraer, Brazil
Reasons of Deal :- For installation of DRDO developed mission system to develop indigenous Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) System.
Issue :- There were media reports on alleged involvement of Agents in the deal. Therefore, DRDO asked for clarification from Embraer based on the media reports.
5)On 24th August 2016, it was reported in an Australian newspaper “The Australian” that certain data relating to the Scorpene class Submarines was leaked.
The Scorpène-class submarines are a class of diesel-electric attack submarines jointly developed by the French Direction des Constructions Navales (DCN) and the Spanish company Navantia,
Indian Version of Scorpene Class Submarine :- The Kalvari class submarines being built for the Indian Navy.
It is a class of diesel-electric attack submarine which is designed by French naval defence and energy company DCNS and being manufactured by Mazagon Dock Limited in Mumbai.
6)The Government has decided to grant Permanent Residency Status (PRS) for 10 years with multiple entry to foreign investors.
Conditions:-
i) Making investment of minimum of Rs. 10 crores to be brought within 18 months or
ii)Rs. 25 crores to be brought within 36 months. PRS will also be granted to the spouse/dependents of the eligible foreign investor.
The foreign investment should result in generating employment to atleast 20 resident Indians every financial year. The scheme is expected to encourage foreign investment in India and facilitate Make in India.
7)Clean Energy Cess:- The effective rate of Clean Energy Cess (now renamed as Clean Environment Cess) levied on coal, lignite and peat was increased from Rs.200 per tonne to Rs.400 per tonne.
Clean Environment Cess also acts as green tax, on the lines of polluter pays principle.
8)The 7th World Ayurveda Congress (WAC) will be held from 2nd – 4th December, 2016 at Science City, Kolkata. The mega event is being organized by the World Ayurveda Foundation with support of Ministry of AYUSH.
9)What are Robusta and Arabica : Remember that these are the varieties of Coffee Plants and from time to time the Govt. is releasing HYV's of these.
Ex. Chandragiri for Arabica.
